Sustainability & CSR

Aware of our commitment to our stakeholders and the environment we base our actions on the four core areas of CSR (Human Rights, Labor Standards, the Environment and the Fight against Corruption), as a practical and transversal element to all our business and social actions.

Our economic commitment is based on the foundations of sustainability, with CSR being the center of our business strategy and the integral guide of our business actions, making us a leading company in the mining sector and a national example in the responsible management for the economic and natural resources we currently have.

Additionally, preserving cooperative relations with our stakeholders is fundamental, which allows us establish policies, strategies, action plans and management systems focused on the social and economic development of the parties involved.

To fulfill these purposes, we have three strategic lines of action based on CSR:

CSR as a business management model

CSR culture

Active participation and collective construction

Commu-nity

Building harmonious relationships with the community that lives in our area of influence is essential to us. That is why our actions are based on the respect and protection of Human Rights and the environment, as a symbol of our commitment to sustainability, social, economic and cultural development of the Municipality.

As part of this commitment, we have implemented a company-community integration project, where the latter recognizes us as an ally and not as an external agent that does not contribute to the achievement of their interests. This project is constituted by a main area called “Company-Community Relationship”, which is divided into 4 sub-areas, each with specific actions in order to strengthen the bond and trust between both parties, in addition to contributing to progress and better quality of life of the sector.

Employees and worker safety

The development of activities that provide well being to our collaborators, who contribute their work force and effort to make the company sustainable, profitable and competitive, has led to the ongoing effort to give them a space where they can grow professionally as well as personally. This strengthens the commitment to their work and the sense of belonging to the company, translating into a better work performance.

From this perspective, apart from fully complying with labor standards, we have an entire work welfare project that seeks to improve the quality of life of our employees. This project is divided into two fundamental areas of action: Human Development and Quality of Life, which in turn are divided into sub-areas with specific actions that make it possible to generate a favorable and equitable environment within daily work.

Health & Safety

With a clear purpose of creating a safe and healthy work environment, we have instituted a Safety and Health Management System at Work, which consists in the development of a logical and phased process, based on in the continuous improvement that includes the policy, organization, planning, application, evaluation, audit and the actions of improvement with the objective of anticipating, recognizing, evaluating and controlling the risks that may affect safety and health in the work, as established in decree 1072 of 2015, Decree 1886 of 2015, Decree 2222 of 1993, resolution 1111 of 2017 and other concordant norms, as well as those that modify or substitute it.

The project has the constant support of a professional in the area of Safety and Health at Work, who is responsible for implementing the existing management system, ensuring that employees comply with the necessary safety measures appropriate to the development of the exercise of mining, thus guaranteeing their safety, health and quality of life.

Environment

Our mining project is executed in strict compliance with national and international mining and environmental regulations and legislation. From the beginning, environmental impact studies and environmental management plans were carried out, in order to identify the baselines of fauna and flora resources, making environmental inventories respecting renewable and non-renewable natural resources, the bodies of water and air quality. With these actions, it is stated that there will be no intervention to the environment without having obtained the corresponding permits for the use of any of the sector’s natural resources.

It is our commitment, in the development of the project, to strictly comply with national norms and international treaties that protect the environment, since our objective is to achieve sustainable development, where the result is mainly environmental protection, in addition to the benefit of the community of the area, because by implementing environmentally responsible actions, the continuity of the project is guaranteed to a great extent, which not only activates the local economy, thanks to the generation of jobs and what this implies in the economic dynamics of the sector, but also the national one, since economic income is generated to the public treasury due to the mining activi
