Why Gómez Plata
Gómez Plata was founded in may of 1760 by a group of 52 miners who, between the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century arrived from western Antioquia and found a stream that was rich in Gold. It bathed a small valley in the north of Antioquia, located between the Guadalupe and Porce rivers, which they baptized with the name of wide leaves due to the type of vegetation that abounded on its banks
